Trident Seafoods Looks to Sell Shoreside Plants, Reduce Workforce Trident Seafoods said Dec. 12 that it's looking for potential buyers for four of its shoreside processing plants as part of a restructuring initiative to streamline its Alaska operations and refocus the company's global commercial strategy.

SBA Offering Disaster Loans to Those Impacted by Calif. Salmon Fishery Closure Low-interest disaster loans are now being made available by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to small businesses that were economically impacted by closure of the 2023 California salmon fishery from April 6 through Oct. 31, 2023. The deadline to apply is Aug. 29, 2024.
Boost in 2024 Pollock TAC Approved For Gulf of Alaska Federal fisheries managers have approved a total acceptable Gulf of Alaska harvest of pollock in 2024 of 195,720 metric tons, up from 156,578 metric tons in 2023. For the Eastern Bering Sea, the North Pacific Fishery Management Council voted to keep the allowable catch of pollock at 1.3 metric tons.
